The Master Musicians of Dyffryn Moor – Contemporary Protest Music

dyffryn moor

So a percussion ensemble went and made a really political album with no words. Apart from the words on their bandcamp page, and I think you should read them whilst listening to the music.

Haress

This is unbelievably good psychedelic folk, for want of a better term. There’s elements of americana in some of the tracks and most of the reference points I can think of are probably US based, but Haress is based in Shropshire. Also, someone from Hey Colossus plays somewhere on this album and I fancy I can hear that influence but maybe I is trying too hard. Lurgee still lurking, see.

The artist picture they use at the top of their bandcamp page is well good, too.

One Dog Clapping – Internal Route Fury

Madness!

In many ways, but not all.

So I attempted linearity… actually, scratch that. I did no such thing. What I meant was that I attempted to make sense, but again, it’s just possible that I actually did no such thing.

So what happens when you purposefully take yourself through the void? Internal Route Fury, that’s what. You have to test these Alternarratives against your demons, after all, otherwise they’re a waste of words.

There is actually an overarching plan to all this. And if you believe that, you might just believe that it’s me that’s behind it. And one or more of those statements may only be a half truth at best.

The final instalment in this series will probably be called Glitterheads on the Loose! Because, ladles and gentlespoons, that is exactly what we are.

Matchess – Sacracorpa

sacracorpa

So God plugged the universe in. “Let there,” he began, “be sound.”
And he turned us on.

The splitting of a hair almost always renders it useless

Do the asymmetrical boogie

I’m not working for the man ever again
He makes me sick
Then blames me for breathing the air he polluted!
And as he counts his money that he’ll never spend
I ain’t working for the man ever again

The gravity of our shared destiny is what keeps us in orbit about each other

Mary had a little mammalian cell bioreactor

The children of the thousand eyes
Came back from subject island
They had asbestos hair
And nothing made them frightened

The chief of chalice is currently visually ill

A tone of my own

One Dog Clapping – Alternarratives

It is 9/9/18, and 9.09 pm (BST) when I click the publish button on Bandcamp. We have entered the time of the new moon. Fittingly, I have ‘Ritual‘ by Fire! Orchestra playing.

Alternarratives is the third album in the ‘Meeting The Changing Landscape’ Series, and the halfway point. It is about, broadly speaking, telling ourselves better stories so that we can head towards the Hills to Die On.

The next album in the series takes a turn back into the void as these better stories wrestle with the demons that would have them remain unspoken, and will be called Internal Route Fury.

Timothy J. Fairplay -Mindfighter EP

On a bridge on a plain senorita sing again as the angels learn to fly they’re oblivious, delirious [] once upon a time certain words became a rhyme and although the meaning changed they’re oblivious, delirious [] the air is an idea and contains a gateway here and there are stories that I tell but they’re oblivious, delirious [] I’m electric don’t you know I’m magnetic full of flow and I try t tell the world but they’re oblivious, delirious [] scratching at the door even though you came before weren’t you desperate to get out? But you’re oblivious delirious [] there’s no welcome back there’s no room within this shack they’d rather you weren’t here but they’re oblivious delirious [] and it all still looks the same because you think a plain’s a plain you should see it underneath but you’re oblivious
delirious

There’s not a glimmer of fire in the eyes
not an ember to smoulder
but something’s going tick tock
and it’s loud enough to move
as a casual wave
and I am at your mercy

I burnt from my mistakes

Rusty Souls – Tripnotic

tripnotic

Clarkson sold his soul
and was rewarded with a fast car
gave him such a thrill
that he thought that’s all there was
part of the deal he made
was in treating men with wither
if they happened to point out
that he’d been taken for a ride
but eventually he arrived at the end
of his sordid little pleasuredome
he had to put in concepts
all the scorn he’d sold in words
and he found that they were empty
he found that they were empty
albeit with invective
but it isn’t quite the same
where has your reward gone?
it’s stuck behind in this realm
and you could have taken riches
if you knew just what they were
life is not a lesson
it’s a song
and if you get the meaning wrong
you cannot hear the music
its underneath the engines
but above the darker ground
it could be in the air
try listening to the air
ears are more than just the holes in the side of your head
you need to know your song
its your passport to moving on
