Tentakel – TwoFace

Although I listen to a resonable amount of electronic music, I’m even worse at catagorising that, so forgive the tags if they don’t seem complete or appropriate.

This may be the first album I’ve linked to on Bandcamp that has no supporters. It’s high on my list, though, for that time in the future when I may start having disposable income again, a time slightly more likely than The Rapture / The Singularity (but I repeat myself).

Paisiel – self titled

paisiel

We’ve met half of Paisiel before in this parish, one Julius Gabriel. He is clearly one to watch.

The other half of Paisiel has done this percussion album which I listened to lately after one of its tracks was played on a Black Impulse show. It’s on my list of things to listen to again.

Firefriend – Yellow Spider

I would have posted about this last year when it was released, but I was a bit busy with an album or five. I shall now start paying attention to the mailouts that I get from nice people, but there still won’t be any quotable guff coming from me, let me tell you.

I was reminded of this album because Firefriend have a two track thing out now – do we still call those singles? I’m getting older and more confused. ANywho, one of the people who I follow on bandcamp bought it (one of the people who buys about 20 things a week; I mean, c’mon – how do you even do that?) so I came and checked it out and I did something I rarely ever do, I watched the videos for each track, mainly because the lack of sleep I promised myself at the beginning of this 10 day stretch without going to work is having  quite the spaced-out effect on my brain. The songs themselves are very good. The videos had a quite narcotic effect on me too, in their way, and seemed to suit the mood of the music despite their very low budget approach. But that might be the current state of my awareness for you.

Dirtmusic – Bu Bir Ruya

dirtmusic

Not feeling very talkative today. I’m off work for the next 10 days and today was probably my only chance at an actual lay in since the kids will be staying with me from now on, yet I was up before 8 to go into town and look for a cheap TV as the boy managed to ‘accidentally’ break his xbox monitor on Sunday. 10 days of him winding the girl up out of boredom does not a holiday make, so the sacrifice is worth it, I suppose.

In other news – lurgee all but gone.

Been meaning to post this album for ages. Didn’t. Doing so now.

Priests – The Seduction of Kansas

I thought I did their first album on here but I’m confusing that with something else vaguely similar I discovered around the same time.

I just went down to make a cuppa before doing this post and I had the opening line, but I’m now back up and I’ve forgotten it. Blame it on my current headache. I have headaches as hangers on at the moment. They think it’s cool to be seen with me for some reason. Something about the The Times they are a-Raging.

The good thing about rage is you can make music with it that is your standard rage music, and heaven knows we’ve all done that sometimes and how much fun it can be, but you can also channel it into more subtle forms and make people think you’re just trying to write pop songs or something, delivering the rage to the listener via the medium of the earworm. You can put sugar on snarls, you know.

Funny thing about getting older, and it’s only really the last year or so I’ve noticed this – whatever was the last thing I listened to goes round my head until I listen to something else, no matter if it’s the first time I listened to it or the million and first. I listened to ‘Jesus Son’  for the first time on a Dusted review last thing before getting in the bath a couple of Sundays ago and it was still going round my head when I got to work the next Monday morning.

It’s not all bad though. It’s an ace song, and there are other ace songs on here too.
